Hello people,

I´m using  "Chaos Music Composer 3.0 (Bartman) , and recently I found these versions on the pigwa ftp, with apparently extra features:

- Chaos Music Composer 2.0+.atr
PunBB bbcode test

- Chaos Music Composer 2.0s.atr
PunBB bbcode test

- Chaos Music Composer Special.atr
PunBB bbcode test

What is the difference between "Special", "2.0s" and "2.0+" ?

for some reason in these 3 images I can not save  songs (CONTROL +S), CMC tells me "error 130"

I will appreciate your valuable opinions!,

So thanks....

error 130 - lack of disk drive or bad device defined as far as I remember. try saving it under c:*.* maybe this will help a bit :) cheers

thanks  cedyn!, these images are (Ken's Autoboot),  i dont see the files inside with ATRutil, i can extract the bin to create a .atr compatible image with my SIO2VCP  (Sio to Virtual Com Port  by xt5) , i can open these  cmc versions on emulator or real XL but can not save songs. I see they are not normal .atr ´s .

Although it would be very useful to hear from users who are working with these versions of CMC in the past, I think the  Atari XL/XE  Polish scene is the main to talk about it...

Hello! Using AtrUtil just selects that * KBOOT DISK * "file" and you will be able to extract binary by pressing the button as shown below:

Then you can use saved file itself under your favorite DOS.

Error 130 should be gone when you run these CMCs from a real DOS.

CMC used to be popular in Poland in '90s. Now there are newer trackers.

hi Miker, nice to meet you!

I'm trying exactly as you say, on a real Atari 800XL, extracting the binary and is still giving me the "error 130" when I want to save.

PunBB bbcode test
thanks anyway

Nice to meet you Fox!,

The 800XL comes with a real DOS default operating system as I understand , or no?

that extracted binary you should add to some disc with real dos, not some stub like kboot disc (dos ii, dos 2.5, mydos, or sparta dos - but most versions of cmc has problems with correct working under sparta).

800xl comes with os in rom chips. dos is something what should be loaded into ram when atari is starting...

unzip; strip; touch; finger; mount; fsck; more; yes; umount; sleep

As Fox and Jellonek mentioned to be able to save (I think load as well) song in CMC it must be run from DOS. If I remember well original CMC came with DOS 2.5  but I think most people use it with DOS 6.4 or MyDOS.
Actually there was CMC 2.0+ and CMC 2.0s+. CMC 2.0s+ allow you to play song using 2 POKEYs. If I remember well (we - Hugo and I - did this stereo enhanced version 14 years ago) using button START,SELECT, OPTION you can choose which channel will be played on which one Pokey (lewy - left, prawy - right, dwa - both, NIE - turn off channel). In most hardware stereo upgrades old Pokey is connected as left speaker and new one as right.
If your Atari have only one Pokey, this version on CMC is not usable for you.

orginally that was dos 2.5 + cp in place of dup.sys ;)
cp -> command processor also seen in tajemnice atari ;)

Hi, Monsoft, nice to meet you!

(lewy - left, prawy - right, dwa - both, NIE - turn off channel)  this is very good for playing live and mute channels!, and switch the polyphony on channel 1 of some instruments that are specifically for that channel 1.

Do you know the keyboard commands to set the basstables and a volume-table on the CMC RZoG version? looks promising!!!

Someone has a link to download the stereo version SCMC ver.7 ? 1998 Datri Software???

I Ty zostaniesz big endianem...

14

Thanks Miker

- SHIFT+Z, SHIFT+X - increase/decrease volume during play
- SHIFT+N, SHIFT+C - normal/changed (improved) bass table

but, I don´t hear the difference between normal and changed bass mode, maybe works with any type of additional configuration :/

15

Oh, really? Then take instrument ie. "l_bas" and type in some patterns notes from c-1 do d-4, and play using normal and changed bass table. :)

Czy ktokolwiek dysponuje wersjami CMC:
- od Stanley'a - zmodyfikowana tablica basów,
- od Jaskier'a - metrum 3/4 metodą Henryka Karpowicza z Serious#5
i mógłby podesłać?
Uprzejmie proszę o pozytywne ustosunkowanie się do mojej prośby :P
