Lastic, look at the perinoid's photos. There is an original metal cover shield, and I think that FDD lies flat on it.

I know, mine was also laying on the shield :)

But it looks like his diskdrive is mounted higher since it aligns wit the backside of the bottom case.

Mine however lays much lower as you can see in my pictures and is the reason why I have a bigger cutout.

I even had to remove 3 screws on the bottom of the keyboard so the drive could slide in onto the shield.

Thanks for the info.

Am I correct that your diskdrive is laying on the ECI/CART ports ?

Your drive seems to be mounted higher than mine, just wondering how you were able to clear that space with the keyboard ?

Mine lays on the SIO connector and I have made a cut-out on the cartridge port so the drive sinks down there.
This way when I removed 3 of the little screws on the bottom of the keyboard I was able to slide the drive underneath the keyboard.

WOW, your cutout is a lot nicer than mine, in the meanwhile I also ordered the trackdisplay.
My 1030XEFM is still in the UK with Jon (Flashjazzcat) .

How did you create that badge ?

I was planning to splice a 1040STFM with my 130XE badge but yours looks just like it came from Atari's factory.

Did you have to make a cutout on the cartridge support or how is your diskdrive supported underneath ?
