Great! BTW, did you get messages I sent you on AtariAge?
all true ;)
and the fact i was ten minutes after your leaving on irc ;)
This is why they invented email. You can read them and respond to them any time - it's great. :)
I have sent email from an alternative address (see website).
Much faster when my little parcel arrives and I can get response from Candle to numerous emails and attempts to locate on IRC, etc. :)

After a long break, the project is back on track. :)
Folks over at AtariAge could use an update on order status.
Well - I'm getting somewhere with this anyway. My mistake was in using the SMB directive instead of .EXTRN to declare external symbols. The header bytes in the manual make complete sense now. I might be able to figure this out on my own after all. :)
Agreed. I know enough about certain aspects to contribute (especially SDX binaries), but a lot of stuff is probably very advanced even for programmers who can understand Polish. It's therefore hard to assimilate the text unless you know how to use the directives. I've asked Tebe if anyone's yet coded up a dynamic linker.
Thanks for these! They're great. Been waiting six months for a sticker for this thing! :D
I emailed him over at AtariAge. Fingers crossed... ;)
Hi - any MADS experts out there who can help me write a relocating linking loader for MADS' proprierary relocatable binary file format, please PM or email me at atari8.co.uk. The Google translated MADS docs are VERY hard going, and I need assistance with some of the finer details of the relocatable file format.
Any help will be greatly appreciated - this is for the GUI project. :)
flashjazzcat napisał/a:In any case: I have a favour to ask. If there's anyone out there using SIDE with a VBXE machine, can you put the latest version of The Last Word on a SpartaDOS X formatted partition, run it from the hard disk, and tell me what happens.
Hi, 3.21b is just loading without any problem on SIDE+VBXE machine from my A:\PROGS\LW subdirectory on SIDE SDX partition. Same for VBXE version of LW, no problem at all to load it.
Thanks Jacques. That's most helpful. Both my VBXE machines suffer a catastrophic crash if I try to load LW from the SIDE HDD when using production carts. I'm trying to trace the problem - looks like it's nothing to do with VBXE itself.
We could really do with someone who could duplicate the crash and then do a dump with a TurboFreezer or some such.
It's not only FDISK which won't run in 64KB under SIDE... try almost any executable which has to be loaded with the "X" command. MEMLO is too high... I spent time making efforts to lower it, but then the decision was made to rely on extended memory. I think there's a (not completely unreasonable) supposition that "serious" SDX users would likely intend to install or already have a memory upgrade. In any case, the driver code and partition table have to go somewhere.

I have APT (beta) running on IDE Plus, and can indeed swap media with SIDE and partition disks on IDE Plus using SIDE's partition editor. :)
SDX 4.45 for SIDE:
Where did you get the project box for the IDE Plus? Looks great. :)
OK - sorry for the misunderstanding. It's difficult using Google translate. ;)

If you wish to perform data transfer at the hardware level, email me and I will prepare sample code.

A good question, well posed. ;)

Where can one obtain 4:3 or 5:4 AR LCD monitors with HDMI inputs these days? :D
Do we really need the 1/8" or so of plastic sleeving around the pins (on the underside of the board)? Surely the pins should be the same as those found on the VBXE adapter board, allowing the PCB to sit flush with the top of the CPU socket. This would allow the unit to be socketed on an XL, the board sitting too high otherwise. I certainly wouldn't want to remove the CPU socket on an XL and solder this directly to the motherboard. A simple design change would - I suggest - avoid the need for this.
OK - I'll assume that until told otherwise. ;)
Thanks! Now to decypher MADS relocatable file format, for which I need to write a loader for the GUI...
Thanks! :) But what is the significance of :5 and :2? They look like macro parameters.
The ability to indent STRUCT elements is most welcome.
Can you explain subtle amendments to .STRUCT in latest version? (i.e. "var :3 .byte", etc). In addition, I'm interested in using the MADS native relocatable format for the GUI, but I'm having difficulty understanding the Google-translated documentation.
